Giulla Mazza is an emerging photographer from Bologna, who is making a name for herself in more ways than one. Her love for photography was sparked in the mid 90s, when she felt a need to capture the hardcore punk scene that was happening in Italy at that time. In 2002, she was awarded a scholarship at the Italian Institute of Photography in Milan where she specialised in fashion photography. Clearly inspired by her adolescent years, there is a childlike playfulness that runs throughout her fashion portfolio. Toys, balloons, sweets, flowers and brightly coloured backdrops are just some of the props used to entice the inner child to come out and play. Her subjects enlivened by the fun atmosphere soon transform into characters that inhabit the imaginary world she has created for them.

Being in a band herself, she has been able to merge both her love of music and photography into ‘one huge passion’. She spends a lot of time touring with her band ‘A Classic Education’ providing the perfect opportunity to capture candid, intimate moments of the artists and celebrities who are at the forefront of the contemporary music scene. Mazza regularly contributes to several major publications such as the Rolling Stone Magazine, Vogue Italia and Inked Magazine.
